Total Beauty Collection for HSN

Oh how I love this review! I had the opportunity to review all the products in the Total Beauty Collection for HSN.  Yes, the HSN!  I am such a big fan of both Total Beauty and HSN so I was super excited to try out all these products.

The Total Beauty Collection for HSN includes:

The Total Beauty Collection for HSN will be released October 31, 2013 and on November 13th, HSN will air a 24-hour LIVE on air event.

Here are my thoughts on each of the products included in the Total Beauty Collection for HSN:

Benefit The POREfessional Pore Primer:  This is the perfect primer for someone will normal to oily skin.  It goes on smoothly and makes a nice matte finish before adding foundation,  You can also use it over your makeup to touch up problems areas.  It definitely made my makeup stay put and last through a 12 hour day at work.  Working with men in a high stress position doesn't leave me much time to touch up my makeup so this is a perfect option for women on the go.

Perlier Shea Butter Hand Cream:  I have to admit that I used this on my hands after using the Serious Skincare Glycolic Gommage Exfoliating Facial on my hands.  I couldn't help using it on my dry, aging hands.  The summer really took a toll on my hands and this was just what the doctor ordered! I used it on my left hand just to tell a difference and it really did look smoother and younger than my right hand.  I will be using this in my purse at work after washing my hands twenty time a day.  Germ freak alert!

Serious Skincare Glycolic Gommage Exfoliating Facial:  This stuff is amazing!  The cream comes out and its light gray like a ash based cream and has a grainy feel.  I used it on my face first, then hands.  It left my face feeling smooth and actually moisturized like I didn't need to add facial cream.  That rarely happens to me living in the desert.  I will use this once every 3 days as a pick me up to brighten my skin and keep the dryness at bay.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara:  I have my staple mascaras but I am always looking for something newer and better.  I am a big fan of Too Faced products and this one is a hit.  The applicator was nice and had tons of bristles the way I like.  It made my eyes look like a Broadway star in the hit Chicago!  I was really impressed with how much volume I could get and also that the mascara didn't cake up like some do.  Another great thing, it was long lasting and did not flake throughout the day.

Elysee YouthSpan Enviro-Shield Tinted Veil:  My friends know I am a fan of wearing makeup to the gym.  You never know who you might see!  Well this is a gym friendly makeup alternative.  It provides light coverage but can be built up by adding more layers.  I really liked how it felt on my skin.  It was almost like a tinted moisturizer but not greasy.  I really loved the soft glow it gave me and yes I will wear it to the gym!

Wei East China Herbal Intensive Eye Pads:  I used these pads for ten minutes as the instructions stated and was worried they would burn.  They didn't burn but in fact, felt soothing and cool.  When I took them off my skin was supple and I could notice some puffiness had gone down.  I don't sleep well with my crazy work schedule so these will be a great addition to my morning or nighttime regime.  The sample only came with one set of pads so I will be buying more!  If my eyes look this good after one use, I can't wait to see what they look like after a month of using them.  They would make a great holiday gift for someone who is often stressed.

Carol's Daughter Monoi Oil Sacred Strengthening Serum:  This oil is great for my damaged, colored, dry hair.  I have very thick hair so I can get away with using oil serum.  I used a little bit before styling my wet hair.  It didn't make my hair greasy but smooth.  I then curled my hair and added just a drop to my hands and ran it gently over my hair to give it a finishing touch.  It looked so smooth but didn't weigh my hair down.  The serum also had a pleasant scent to it which is always a plus.

M Asam VinoLift Skin Tightening Cream: This cream was smooth without making your skin feel tight like it couldn't move.  I have tried tightening creams that were almost uncomfortable to wear and this one was completely different and supple.  I really liked how it left my skin feeling.  I wore it to bed and also under makeup.

Trish McEvoy Eye Base Essentials in Bare:  This is the ultimate in a shadow primer.  This base left my skin looking brighter and made my shadow stay in place all day! No creases for me either.  I was in shock a little and tried it again the next day.  Yes it's true folks, shadow primers can work and Trish McEvoy figured out how!  Another good holiday gift for the makeup guru in your life who thinks they have everything.

So now you can see why I was so excited about this review?  Great products all in one collection.  I would personally love to buy another one as I know my products will ALL be used.

Sephora Collection Perfecting Ultra-Smoothing Primer Review

Sephora Collection Perfecting Ultra-Smoothing Primer

If you are looking for a reliable and somewhat inexpensive primer, choose the Sephora brand labeled as the Sephora Collection.  My friend Carol recommended it to me and I simply love it.  It has an airless pump so it is easy to distribute and I simply apply it with my fingers.  This primer preps your face so your foundation goes on smoothly and easily.  It claims to extend the wear of your foundation and I would have to agree.  I also think it makes my skin look smoother and more even toned.  It can be applied to the eye area.

*One note: I do wear this primer over my day cream with SPF.

There are several listed on the website but this one is the Perfecting Ultra-Smoothing primer. It sells for $15.00. This product is dermatologist tested, non-comedogenic, and free of parabens.

* I purchased this product.

Nuance Salma Hayek Dual Phase Makeup Remover Review

As many of my friends know, I just love browsing the aisles at CVS.  I especially love being a member of the Beauty Club and earning rewards.  Recently, I found this amazing makeup remover.  It is called Nuance Salma Hayek Cucumber & Rosewater Dual Phase Makeup Remover.

The bottle contains a watery liquid and a more oily substance which you must shake to make perform.  It is similar to a salad dressing that separates.

I love this particular makeup remover for a few reasons:
  • It can be used all over the face and not make me break out
  •  It smells good and is pleasant to use
  •  It is strong enough to remove my long wear lipstick
  •  It is sort of fun to use!
I am already on my second bottle and it lasts a few months.  I will be definitely giving this as gifts to my besties for the holidays.

*Listed as $7.99 on the CVS website but I got it on sale.

* I paid for this item myself.

Caudalie Divine Oil Review

The first post of 2013...how exciting! I am using my husband's IPad, sitting by the fire, and watching my kids play with Legos and watch Disney channel. The show, "Shake it Up" is actually pretty good! Anyhow, back to beauty!

I purchased my first Caudalie product from Sephora in December. I have been using the Divine Oil for a few weeks now. My skin is really dry and is craving moisture. I did a quick search on Sephora's website for facial oils. You would be amazed at how many exist! I decided to go with Caudalie because I remember Gwyneth Paltrow recommended this brand. I have a few idols and Gwynnie is among them.

I mentioned my dry skin. Well it was at the point of peeling when I applied foundation. I first used a cleansing powder in the shower and then quickly applied the Caudalie Divine Oil on my face, neck, and chest. It comes in a glass jar with a spray pump. I was worried I would drop it but thankfully haven't yet.

The oil is oh so divine. It smells great, feels great, and didn't make me break out at all. I admit I could use a bit more moisture but this stuff is wonderful. I just noticed the travel size is in sale so I might get another. I purchased mine in a travel kit that is now sold out. The large size is $48 which I would never buy. It does seem to last though. Despite the grooves in the bottle- be cautious and never store this standing upright in case it falls out of your cabinet onto a tile floor.  You may find yourself sopping it up with tears in your eyes.  I have mine in a drawer at an angle so it won't seep out and is easily accessible.

I am excited to now try some other Caudalie products. I am sure Gwynnie would be proud. I think her brother lives in my town so you never know when I might run into her!

Happy New Year!
